CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 3 RELEASE DATE, BETA DETAILS LEAKED

CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS 3 RELEASE DATE, BETA DETAILS LEAKED

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will release on November 6, 2015, according to a leaked GameStop flyer that just surfaced online.
The photo of the retailer's alleged marketing materials, sent to Kotaku, note the aforementioned launched date, as well as details on an upcoming beta for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC owners who pre-order Treyarch's upcoming shooter.
It's important to note, however, that upon closer inspection, there's a line of fine print, which reads: "Actual platform availability and launch date(s) to be determined."
Another strange detail is that Nov. 6 falls on a Friday, whereas games almost always launch on Tuesdays. There's also no mention of last-gen versions on the flyer.
Kotaku's source of the leak claims the pre-order promotional material will be handed out to consumers this coming Sunday, April 26, when Activision is holding its Black Ops 3 "world reveal." Since the publisher has yet say anything official about the game's release date or alleged beta, we'll have to treat this all as mere rumor for the time being.
We reached out to Activision for comment.
In the meantime, be sure to check out the game's live-action teaser trailer, which dropped earlier this week.

Sony Xperia Z4 release date and news

Sony Xperia Z4 release date and news

Latest Update: The phone is finally official, with Sony announcing its Japanese release. There's still no word on international versions though.
It might not seem that long since the Xperia Z3 was released, but with Sony's rapid release schedule for its flagship smartphones we now have Sony Xperia Z4. Well, Japan has it at least - as it currently hasn't be launched outside of Sony's homeland.
We heard plenty of rumors about Sony's next flagship, including one reportwhich reckons the Japanese firm will return to an annual launch of its top device, ditching the recent trend of every six months, though not until after the Z4 launches.
Now that the phone has been officially confirmed for release in Japan, we have a firmer idea of which rumors were true and which were wild speculation, so we now know the Xperia Z4 will give the latest Samsung and HTC flagships a run for their money.

Cut to the chase

  • What is it? Sony's next flagship smartphone
  • When is it out? Later in the summer in Japan, although international release dates are yet to be announced
  • What will it cost? A lot - this will be a high-end device

Sony Xperia Z4 release date

The Xperia Z4 will be launching in Japan later in the summer, although we're not sure whether international availability will be before or after that - or at all.
Some early rumors suggest that Sony is moving from two flagships a year to just one and pushing the Sony Xperia Z4 back to the summer.
On the other hand Sony has already started rolling out its '4' product range with the Xperia Z4 Tablet and the Xperia M4 Aqua, so it would make sense to have a smartphone alongside them. Plus, speaking to TrustedReviews, Tim Harrison, Sony's Vice President of Global Communications and PR, claimed the company hasn't moved to a 12 month product cycle.
The Xperia Z4 Tablet isn't set to launch until June anyway, so that means its next flagship will probably arrive on shelves shortly after its tablet counterpart.

Sony Xperia Z4 design

Now that we've seen the final product, we know that the device isn't too big a departure from previous iterations of the Xperia Z lineup.
6.9mm thick, with a 144g glass-and-aluminium body, the Z4 features the same water-and dust proof features the Xperia Z lineup has become famous for.
In the steady stream of leaks about the upcoming Xperia Z4, one renowned leaker, @vizileaks, suggested that the early leaks we have seen aren't of the Z4 but a new Xperia Z3 Neo handset.

Sony Xperia Z4

Snaps of a very Z4-looking-phone have been posted by both Nowhereelse.fr and in2mobile. In fact it also looks a lot like the Xperia Z3. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as the Xperia Z3's attractive OmniBalance design was one of its strongest features.

According to a source that contacted Phone Arena, the Xperia Z4 will have thinner top and bottom bezels as well as more rounded corners as you can sort of see in the accompanying image below.

Images apparently taken from the email account of the Sony CEO during the major Sony hack also reveal early renders of the Xperia Z4, showing a mirrored front and back.

Annotated images that were included in the leak show that the Xperia Z4 could come with a 1.2mm glass panel and resin bezel, while another rumor suggested that Sony could be releasing a Walkman edition of the Xperia Z4. This version would concentrate on music playing with hi-res audio codec support, two-day battery life and improved S-Force PRO front-facing speakers.

Sony Xperia Z4 screen

The Sony Xperia Z4 appeared to have been benchmarked with a 5.1-inch 1080 x 1920 screen, but there was a lot of conflicting reports about its display.
The truth is that it's a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, despite early rumors hinting that the screen would be 5.5-inches.
While the size is correct, this shuts down leaks that suggested it would have a 5.2-inch screen with a Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, equalling 565ppi.

The other detail that rumors were conflicted on was the resolution of the screen. Although some rumours claimed that Sony was sticking with 1080p as the resolution, other rumors are suggesting it will get a substantial boost to QHD 1440 x 2560, the same as the LG G3.
Now we know that it was the 1080p version and not that Sony will release two different versions of the Xperia Z4.

Star Wars: Battlefront isn’t just a “big-budget Battlefield mod", says DICE

DICE boss Patrick Bach has promised Star Wars: Battlefront isn’t just a “big-budget Battlefield mod,” as the game carries the Battlefront title for a reason.
star_wars_battlefront_header_04
Speaking with Eurogamer during Day 2 of the Star Wars Celebration yesterday, Bach said the team stayed true to the “core ethos” of the Battlefront series by adhering to what “fits with the IP.”
“The whole idea of building a Star Wars Battlefront game is about two things,” he said. “First of all, it’s called Star Wars Battlefront for a reason, so [we're] going back to the roots and the core ethos of that. On top of that, it’s Star Wars together with LucasFilm.
“We have the opportunity to work with them on this; it’s a super tight relationship. We have daily contact with them – they approve everything, we discuss everything with them. It’s super tight.
“That doesn’t really marry with the thought of making it in a mold, right? The whole idea was: ‘let’s clear the table – it’s gone. What do we want?’ And from there, we start to put things on the table again. In some ways you could argue it’s close to what we’ve done before – because it’s something awesome and people want that – but in other ways it was like no, let’s go down this route because it fits with the IP, it fits with what Star Wars stands for.”
Bach went on to say the team never had the intention or “even had the process” of building something which resembles anything it has created before, as that’s “not how this game has been built.”
The demo shown to Eurogamer took place on Endor, one of the more prominent scenes which was shown in the reveal trailer yesterday. On this particular map, the team wanted to recreate the Speeder Bike scene from Return of the Jedi and the mode shown in the demo was called Walker Assault.
During the presentation, Eurogamer noticed familiar Battlefield staples such as Killstreak and Nemesis bonuses, but Bach wouldn’t elaborate on such features.
It was revealed yesterday players would be able to customize their characters“as much as possible” by being able to choose gear, abiities, weapons and gender to allow players to choose their own play style. The customization only goes so far though, as lore characters such as Darth Vader will stay true to the IP.
“You won’t be able to put a pink cape on Darth Vader,” said Bach. “That would be easy for us to build and some people might say that’d be fun, but its not authentic. That’s how we’re grounding all of the features in the game, including the customisation.
“Picking alien heads, or different heads for different species is something that we think people want and its also true to what Star Wars stands for. And there are different things like that that you can do. We want to stand very firm on that; we want to protect what Star Wars stand for.”
There’s more information in the Eurogamer article, including a breakdown of what was shown in the game demo.
Star Wars: Battlefront will be released from November 17 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is currently available for pre-order through various online retailers including Origin.

Modders are busy working on a Nintendo 3DS homebrew app which turns the system into a remote desktop.
A post on the gbatemp forum (thanks, Eurogamer) shows the app in action running World of Warcraft on a 3DS – although not perfectly.
At present, the app has a rather low frame-rate, but development is still in the early stages.

New Steam policy restricts accounts to protect users from phishing scams and spam

New Steam policy restricts accounts to protect users from phishing scams and spam
Valve has implemented a new policy on Steam which limits user accounts which have spent less than $5 through the store.
delicious_steam
The new policy is to protect users from phishing scams and spam.
If the users hasn’t spent anything on the store, they at least have to have $5 sitting in their Steam Wallet. This will limit accounts from performing the following actions:
  • Sending friend invites
  • Opening group chat
  • Voting on Greenlight, Steam Reviews and Workshop items
  • Participating in the Steam Market
  • Posting frequently in the Steam Discussions
  • Gaining Steam Profile Levels (Locked to level 0) and Trading Cards
  • Submitting content on the Steam Workshop
  • Posting in an item’s Steam Workshop Discussions
  • Accessing the Steam Web API
  • Using browser and mobile chat
The restrictions noted above will not be lifted unless money has been spent or the Steam Wallet has the minimum required funds.
So, if you activate a retail game on Steam, have played a demo, added a non-Steam game as a shortcut, add a free-to-play game, or received a game as a gift or through Steam trading, the account will still be limited.
If the region of the Steam store used isn’t in US dollars, it will be tracked in USD by converting each purchase total made “using daily exchange rates.”
Basically, if you are a Steam user and you have purchased content through the service or have a $5 balance, you are safe.
